Dr. Aditya Bahadur is the Director of the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, a global non-profit think tank working across 100+ countries to advance climate-resilient development. With over 19 years of experience in disaster risk reduction, climate change, and sustainable development, his work has shaped global adaptation agendas and informed key initiatives like the IPCC reports, DfID’s resilience strategies, and the BRACED programme.
Previously, Aditya has held leadership roles at IIED (London), Oxford Policy Management, and the Overseas Development Institute. He played a pivotal role in drafting the Principles for Locally Led Adaptation and co-founded the Adaptation Research Alliance—uniting 140+ organisations from 45 countries.
A Fulbright-Kalam Postdoctoral Climate Fellow and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Aditya holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, and has studied at St. Stephen’s College, Columbia University, CEU (Hungary), and Roskilde University (Denmark). He is the author of Resilience Reset: Creating Resilient Cities in the Global South (Routledge, 2021).
