Dr. Jai Asundi is the Executive Director at the Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), Bangalore, India. He has been involved in research and policy projects across multiple domains, with a current focus on organisational development.

Dr. Asundi's initial work at CSTEP was in the area of emergency and disaster management. He has mentored teams working across diverse sectors including sanitation, urban development, energy, and climate. He led the establishment of AI for Social Impact as a sector of work and played a key role in founding the Centre for Air Pollution Studies (CAPS) at CSTEP.

His broader research interests lie in decision-making and the development of decision support systems for various public policy challenges. His current areas of inquiry include air pollution, artificial intelligence, and energy, while science and technology for public policy remains his overarching focus.

He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining CSTEP, he was a faculty member in Information Systems at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he conducted research in software engineering and taught courses in systems analysis and design, as well as object-oriented design concepts.
